These SG60 Food Deals Hit The Sweet Spot Between Nostalgia And Shiok
What’s the most Singaporean way to celebrate a milestone like SG60? Eating and snagging a bargain, of course. This month, our little island is abuzz with deals and thrills that’ll shore up national pride better than Kit Chan singing "Home" in the National Day Parade finale.
Here are a few of many restaurants where you can enjoy special collabs, deals and celebrations just for the occasion.
1-Flowerhill
This hilltop chateau celebrates Peranakan culture in August with a collaboration between Malacca’s Peranakan Mansion, Budi Bar, and Singapore’s The Intan. On 26 and 27 Aug, chef Keon of Peranakan Mansion, a heritage home in Malacca, will serve a multi-course dinner featuring classics like roti babi, buah keluak and lemak daun keledek (stewed sweet potato leaves).
The Intan, Singapore’s private Peranakan museum, will present a collection of artefacts at the event, as well as a "live" beading demonstration and presentation about the migration, artistry and domestic traditions of the Peranakans. Before all that, the Budi Bar’s mixologist Tai Yong will welcome guests with Peranakan snacks and cocktails.

In 2023, Singaporean artist Yip Yew Chong unveiled his 60-metre canvas painting titled "I Paint My Singapore" at Fairmont Singapore. This year, in celebration of SG60, the hotel returned to Yip’s oeuvre, paying tribute to its multicultural spirit with an art-inspired afternoon tea.
To bring his vision to life, Yip worked closely with Fairmont Singapore’s culinary team, sharing references, colours and cultural inspiration. The result is dishes that recall quintessential Singaporean tableaus, like the smoked duck with spring onion, cucumber and hoisin sauce that bring to mind the warmth of Chinese roast meat stalls and Eurasian chicken stew reimagined in a bite-size morsel.
Flavours of Singapore: Through The Art of Yip Yew Chong ($68 per adult, includes two non-alcoholic beverages) is available till 30 Sep.

Apart from classics like the iconic kaya buns and luncheon meat buns, you’ll now find offerings like curry pork chop ($8.80), kaya or peanut butter French toast ($7), and pang susi ($2.80). The latter is a Eurasian classic featuring a spiced minced meat filling wrapped in a tender sweet potato bun.

Sofitel Singapore City Centre
Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s interactive afternoon tea experience, City of Flavours (till 31 Aug, $64 per person), celebrates "City of Others, Asian Artists in 1920s – 1940s Paris". The exhibition is currently on show at the National Gallery.
On the menu are five dishes inspired by specific artworks. The sansho pepper duck rillette, for example, is fashioned after "Self-Portrait in the Studio" (1926) by Tsugaharu Foujita, while the scallop and yam fritter pays tribute to "Place Maubert" (1929) by Chinese-American artist Yun Gee.
During the meal, guests are invited to create their own art piece with a palette of food-safe paints. To get your creative juices flowing, ask for a pandan-infused gin cocktail ($20), shaken with lychee liqueur, yuzu juice, chilli syrup, champagne, and salted egg yolk syrup. If yours is the most impressive artwork, you’ll win a dinner for two at the hotel’s French and Chinese restaurant, Racines.
