Running out of ideas for what to do with your kids this March school hols? Why not embark on an adventure to rediscover our Little Red Dot?

Here are some places you can consider exploring with your kids:

Adventures At Home: Let's Rediscover Pasir Ris

If your kids have tons of energy to burn, Pasir Ris is definitely for them. Take your little ones to Pasir Ris Park to play at the beach, or even ride ponies at Gallop Stable for a novel experience.

You can also try your luck fishing at Pasir Ris Town Park for some family bonding, or visit a pair of old-school playgrounds – an elephant-shaped playground near the Home Team NS Pasir Ris Chalet, and a bumboat playground (shaped like the sampan or twakow boats of the past) near Elias Mall.

If you're looking to cool off afterwards, consider visiting Wild Wild Wet for tons of splashing fun.

Adventures At Home: Let's Rediscover Jurong

Jurong is a nice place to take your kids to both play and learn in equal measure.

For instance, Jurong Lake Gardens is home to Forest Ramble, a massive nature-inspired playground with 13 unique adventure stations for your kids to explore, each of which was inspired by a different animal that can be found in Jurong Lake Gardens.

And if you're looking to beat the heat, look no further than Clusia Cove, also within Jurong Lake Gardens.

This water playground lets your kids experience water movements that mimic tidal patterns, surface ripples and directional currents similar to those at coastal shores, teaching them about the dynamics of water and the natural tides cycle.

Last but not least, you can't talk about Jurong without mentioning the various edutainment attractions nearby such as the Singapore Science Centre and Singapore Discovery Centre.

In fact, SDC is currently running a special exhibition that reimagines Total Defence history as a futuristic cyberpunk RPG – definitely worth checking out.

Adventures At Home: Let's Rediscover Bukit Timah

If your kids are constantly begging for a pet or pleading to pet every cat/dog/furry creature they see, why not find a compromise by taking them to The Cat Cafe at The Rail Mall to play with some adorable kitties? (Do note that your kids will need to be at least 6 to visit the cafe.)

In addition, Bukit Timah is home to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, aka Singapore's first UNESCO World heritage site.

This sprawling site is home to stunning features like the National Orchid Garden, which hosts over 1,000 species of orchids, including a dedicated section with over 120 orchid hybrids that were named after various State Visitors and other VIPs as part of Singapore's flower diplomacy.

In addition, Singapore Botanic Gardens is home to the one and only Jacob Ballas Children's Garden, the first garden in Asia made solely for kids aged 14 and below. It contains a farm, an orchard, and a forest with its own stream and ponds, as well as a suspension bridge and nature play areas for your kids to explore.

Adventures At Home: Let's Rediscover Woodlands

If there's one playground in Singapore your kids should visit, it's the Nature playgarden at Admiralty Park, which boasts a whopping 26 different slides, ranging from a family slide where 4 people can slide down together to roller slides of over 30-metres in length, double barrel slides with a height of more than 9 metres, and more.

In addition, the Junior Play Area has an inclusive playground for wheelchair users to join the fun with accessible swings and merry-go-rounds.

You'll want to end off the evening at Woodlands Waterfront Park, the perfect place to catch a gorgeous sunset against the backdrop of the Causeway and JB.

Adventures At Home: Let's Rediscover The Singapore Story

Last but not least, if you and your kids have a LOT of free time on your hands, why not draw inspiration from the National Heritage Board's Jubilee Walk Trail and explore Singapore's history through museums and various historic landmarks?

For instance, the Asian Civilisations Museum is always a fun place to visit, with exhibits showcasing the best of craft and aesthetic traditions from cultures across Asia. The Peranakan Museum, which specialises in (what else?) Peranakan culture and heritage is definitely worth a trip as well.

You can also check out the Old Hill Police Station with its colourful windows (927 of them, as a matter of fact!) and teach your kids about Singapore's history in a fun way.
