Skip The F1 Crowds: 5 Thrilling Adventures For Adrenaline Junkies
Unless you’ve been living under a rock – or happen to avoid the Civic District entirely (but whyyy… there’s so much to see there!) – you’ll know that the F1 Singapore Grand Prix is racing into town this weekend (19 to 22 Sept) for its 15th edition.
Now, as someone who isn’t a racing fan, I’m usually unbothered when the Night Race rolls around. That is, aside from dealing with road closures in the CBD area.
While it’s tempting to hibernate at home or jet off for a weekend getaway (I see you, Instagram fam!), some of you might be itching for an adrenaline fix without braving the F1 crowds. If that’s you, here are five thrilling activities you can enjoy on and off the island.
📍54 Palawan Beach Walk, Singapore 098233
What to dodge the F1 crowds but still satiate your need for speed? Head over to HyperDrive @ Sentosa, Singapore’s only indoor go-kart circuit. It’s the perfect alternative to the Grand Prix chaos – you get to race without the massive F1 crowd. It’s a win-win, if you ask me.
I tried it myself during my own company cohesion last year, and had a blast. The three-level track is fun for both newbies and seasoned drivers.
Plus, if you’re a motorsport enthusiast, they’ve got F1 merch from Red Bull up for grabs. Great for couples, friends, or anyone craving an exciting day out.
Opening hours
- Mon to Fri: 12.30pm to 9pm; last entry: 8.30pm
- Sat, Sun, public and school holidays: 10am to 9pm; last entry: 8.30pm
📍1206A East Coast Parkway, Singapore 449891 (Car Park E1)
Swap the roaring engines for the gentle whirr of a cable at Singapore Wake Park, East Coast’s hidden gem. Whether you’re a pro or a complete beginner (like me), this cable-ski park guarantees fun, fun, fun.
As an east sider who loves cycling and jogging through East Coast Park, I’ve passed by the wake park numerous times – and the chill vibes are hard to resist. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the F1 weekend without the crowds. Who knows, you might even have the circuit all to yourself – think beach day meets extreme sports.
Unfortunately, the most advanced cable (System C) is currently under maintenance, so only the beginner and intermediate routes are available. But hey, no lao jiaos around to judge if you wipe out!
Opening hours
- Daily: 10am to 8pm
3, Slingshot Singapore @ Clarke Quay
📍3E River Valley Road, Clarke Quay, Block E, 179024
How about watching the F1 Singapore Grand Prix while being launched 70m into the air? At Slingshot Singapore, nothing gives you a shot of adrenaline more than turning into a human projectile LOL!
I’m absolutely terrified of heights, but trust me, Slingshot Singapore is pure madness (in the best way). You can choose between being shot into the sky or plunging 40m on the Extreme Swing, right over the Singapore River.
Having survived the latter (on a dare to impress a girl), I can say it’s F1-level excitement – minus the traffic jams. Totally worth it!
Opening hours
- Daily: 4.30pm to 11.30pm
📍8 Grange Rd, #09-01 Cineleisure basement car park, Singapore 239695
Unleash your inner Ninja Warrior at BOUNCE Singapore, a massive freestyle trampoline park where you can flip, jump, and run up walls like an action hero.
As a pro wrestling fan, I’ve leapt from high cupboards at home to swan dive over my younger brothers, crashing onto my parents’ beds. It was totally worth the smackdown received afterwards. This comes pretty close to those good ol’ days.
If you’re feeling nostalgic for childhood fun – or need to burn off energy – it’s a fantastic F1 weekend activity that’s more exhilarating than dodging race-day crowds.
As someone who’s been countless times, I can confirm it’s a blast for kids and adults alike. Just imagine – you, bouncing off walls and flipping into foam pits. Who needs the Grand Prix when you can have this kind of fun? Way less scary than dodging race-day crowds! Plus, you’ll burn off enough energy to make the whole weekend feel like a win.

- Sat: 9am to 9pm
- Sun: 9am to 8pm
📍43 Siloso Beach Walk, #01-01, iFly, Singapore 099010
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s me living out my Superman fantasies at iFly Singapore, the Republic’s only indoor skydiving centre. It’s the thrill of free-falling, minus the actual jumping-out-of-a-plane part (which, honestly, I’m totally fine with).
You’ll experience all the excitement of real skydiving – you get to soar, spin, and feel the rush of freefalling without ever leaving Sentosa. It's the perfect way to keep the adrenaline pumping without the trackside crowds.
